Claudia's story

Claudia is 24 years old and a final-year medical student at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova, Romania. She has always dreamed of becoming a doctor in order to help the ones in suffering. She is kind and warm-hearted and is equally appreciated by her colleagues and teachers as one of the best students in her year. It is impossible not to love her, once one has had the chance to know her. All that her blue eyes convey is modesty, generosity and devotion.

Ever since February, when she was diagnosed with a lymph node malignancy – a rare type of lymphoma, she has given us all a lesson of dignity. She hasn’t allowed the illness to shatter her dreams. She has fought it all by herself, quietly and without the support of the ones around her, not wanting to pass the burden onto her friends. In this lapse of time, despite the strong courses of chemotherapy she has been subjected to, she hasn’t missed out on her academic classes and hasn’t raised concerns among her friends. Whenever one of them complimented her on her new hairstyle - a consequence of the treatment – she would always find the strength to smile back and thank them. Moreover, she has passed all her exams with honors.

But the strenuous therapy, coupled with the efforts invested in the exam session, led to the onset of adrenal insufficiency. At the moment, her condition is under complete and complex reevaluation. At this point, an autologous stem cell transplant seems to be the only option, the costs of which have been assessed to 150.000 euro.

Now, her life is in our hands as well. It is up to us to do something to bring back the smile on her face and her joy of living. It is now that Claudia needs each and every one of us, the ones who know her as well as the ones who haven’t had the opportunity to meet her, but are willing to do a noble gesture, offering her the chance to pursue her calling: alleviating the grief of those around her.

sper ca toti romanii si mai ales cei din Craiova si nu numai sa demonstreze cu acest dificil caz ca si noi romanii suntem uniti,ar trebui mediatizat mai mult,iar cei care au mai multi bani si se comporta ca-n filmele americane,sa inteleaga odata ca aia chiar se implica sa ajute in situatii umanitare.Claudia se pare ca esti o tipa cu un moral tare,odata ce te-ai dus si la examene in vara si fiind doctor cunosti mai bine decat oricine cazul,eu sper din tot sufletul sa depasesti aceasta cumpana a vietii tale si intr-o zi sa bat la usa cabinetului tau sa ma vindeci.
